- Gather your loved ones and celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with the ensemble as they serenade you during the festive weekend!
SINGAPORE, 21 August 2023 - Catch The TENG Ensemble ("TENG") live over three shows from 29 September to 1 October 2023 as they make a triumphant return to the VivoCity Amphitheatre following the success of their two fully sold-out shows last Mid-Autumn! Presented by Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”), TENG is excited to bring you the highly anticipated fourth edition of their concert series, Once Upon A Full Moon. Taking place during the Mid-Autumn Festival weekend, the concert will showcase TENG's original compositions and signature East-meets-West takes on popular tunes! Tickets to the concert are available for purchase from 21 August via Eventbrite and can be purchased at S$4 to S$5 each, or at a discounted rate with the “family and friends bundle”.
The concert will run from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the VivoCity Amphitheatre and it will be hosted by TENG's Executive Director, Yang Ji Wei, and Creative Director, Samuel Wong. Alongside them, the concert will feature four guest performers, the first being Singapore's classic vintage vocalist and songwriter, Miss Lou. Described as a reborn jazz soul, Miss Lou uses music as her vehicle to inspire through her words and melodies. Alongside her, the concert will feature deaf arts & music practitioner, Lily Goh. With over two decades of experience, Lily is a seasoned performing artist and an advocate for the extraordinary. Together with Miss Lou, Lily will be signing along to the ensemble’s rendition of soulful tunes. In addition, the stage will be graced by the talents of the Mapletree-TENG scholars, Juliette Goh and Ee An Zhi. Juliette will join the ensemble on stage, showcasing her virtuosity on the Guzheng, while An Zhi will captivate the audience with a mesmerising solo performance!
During the concert, audiences are in for a treat as the ensemble presents an evening of exciting music – featuring iconic tunes from Studio Ghibli animations and the box-office smash The Greatest Showman. The ensemble will also be premiering The New Journey To The West – a majestic and unique East-West rendition of the television classic Journey To The West’s (西游记) theme song!
Moreover, attendees can look forward to celebrating Mid-Autumn with their loved ones at the show, as complimentary lanterns will be distributed, adding an extra touch of festivity to the event!
Mr Edmund Cheng, Mapletree Chairman said: “One of the core philosophies of Mapletree’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme is a long-term engagement with our community partners. This will be the eighth TENG concert that Mapletree is presenting at VivoCity. Since 2018, the concert series has come a long way, with every iteration bringing a new element to the stage. We look forward to seeing the continuing transformation of Chinese music in the years to come.”
Dr Samuel Wong, Creative Director of The TENG Company, said: “We are proud to be performing at VivoCity once again - this time to the tune of three full-length concerts! We look forward to sharing our unique blend of fusion music and aim to entertain and inspire our audiences as always.”
Once Upon a… is part of an annual series of concerts started in 2018, that celebrates the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. Notably, this concert series also serves as a vibrant platform for TENG to collaborate with artists hailing from diverse cultural backgrounds with a shared mission to inspire and impact the community through the common language of music. Following the successful shows of their Lunar New Year edition Once Upon a Time 2023, Mapletree and TENG are proud to be back with yet another instalment of the performance to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
